Intro to Risograph Printing - Sat, Apr 4, 2026

International Printing MuseumCarson, CA
Saturday, Apr 4 from 12:30 pm to 4 pm PDT
Overview

Learn the basics of RISO printmaking with Jun Ha & Dave Bow

Risograph printing enables artists and designers to create their own art prints, books, and zines using a distinctive, vibrant, and vegetable-oil ink based printing process that creates deep textures and unique results. While the RISO was originally designed for printing applications in the office environment, artists and DIY/creative print culture have reclaimed this innovative technology for self-publishing.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll create 1-2 color designs on a Risograph duplicator, as you learn how to set up images, change color drums, print in layers, and register colors using the Museum's SF5130 single-drum Risograph duplicator. All materials provided, but you're encouraged to bring several B&W photographs (5"x7" or smaller) to collage with or incorporate in your risograph printmaking process.

This is an ideal introductory course for artists, designers and creators wanting to operate the machine independently and print their own artwork from start to finish.

Takeaway: You will leave with your own limited edition set of 15 copies, 2-color risograph prints (8.5"x11").
