<h4>Don't miss our first annual 'Ori Tahiti Competition at the Heiva I Miami 2026 on April 19.</h4><h4>Explore the Polynesian Islands - Hō’ē Va’a, Hō’ē ‘Ori— One Canoe, One Dance - This competition reflects the shared rhythm, discipline, and ancestral knowledge that connect all Polynesian movement traditions. Whether expressed through the strength of the canoe, the grounding of ancestral games, or the storytelling of dance, each form represents a different expression of the same lineage. This competition honors unity across styles, generations, and islands—many movements, one people.</h4><h4> </h4><h4>The featured judges for Heiva I Miami’s ʻOri Tahiti Dance Competition are the esteemed Tahiti Mana Judges and Chief Otaha of Na’i Tahiti Nui Tahitian Academy and Moeata Luau Entertainment.</h4> IMPORTANT NOTES: Because this is the very first competition in Miami, this year’s event will have more lenient regulations — making this the perfect opportunity to gain stage experience, connect with other dancers, and shine in front of a supportive audience and judges.Amazing prizes await the winners: More details down below. PERFORMANCE TYPE DIVISIONS AND TIME<ul><li>Solo (between 1.5 to 3 minutes depending on age group)</li></ul>III. AGE GROUPS<ul><li>Tamari’i: 5–8</li><li>Tamāhine/ Tamāroa : 9–12</li><li>Taure’are’a: 13–17</li><li>Vahine / Tāne: 18+</li></ul>IV. JUDGING CRITERIATotal Score: 100 Points1. Stage Presence (25pts)2. Technique &amp; Execution (25pts)3. Ability to follow Drummers (25pts)4. Overall Presentation (20pts)5. Costume (5pts) - Has to be natural materials, no fake leaves, flowers, etc. V.
