"What Sustains Us?" with True Story Theater - Celebrating LGBTQ+ Seniors

True Story Theateris a nonprofit improv theater company. Our mission is to promote social healing through theatre by building empathy, respect, and understanding in the honoring of true stories.Come to a performance: A few volunteers from the audience share what’s important to them related to the theme of the show. Actors listen deeply then spontaneously transform the stories into theater, portraying the heart of what they heard using dialogue, movement, music and song. From this simple interaction, people laugh, cry and experience surprising insights.Try a drop-in class: Anyone interested is welcome--no theatre experience necessary. Come and have fun and share stories with other playful people.Hire us to perform for your group or family for a special event.

True Story Theater

LexPride invites you to a FREE online Playback Theatre performance with True Story Theater: stories of what sustains us as we age.

In this free, interactive performance, True Story Theater will bring to life (and ask us to share) personal stories about what nourishes us. What improves or enriches our lives? What strengths do we bring that help us thrive? How do we tackle challenges? What resources do we call upon for support? Actors will enact the heart of the stories we share and help us process them in community. This will be an experience filled with creativity, heart and insight as we celebrate all our stories. All LGBTQ+ seniors and friends are welcome. This event is sponsored by LexPride as part of our Celebrating LGBTQ+ Seniors project, which is supported by a grant from the Dana Home Foundation. It is co-sponsored by Lexington Senior Services, Arlington Council on Aging, and Arlington LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Commission.
