Question 1

I hear that Flyathlons are fundraisers.  What is that all about?

Accepted Answer

At Running Rivers, we firmly believe that it is our responsibility to not just be "users" of public lands, waters, and fisheries.  So we use the Flyathlon to raise money for native fish conservation work.  We ask that all flyathletes commit to raising $250 as a part of their Flyathlon experience.

Question 2

Do I need to be a good fly fisherman to be successful at the Flyathlon?

Accepted Answer

No!  We pride ourselves on creating events that are inclusive of all abilities, and on the fishing side, we have several amenities available to maximize your odds of catching a fish during the race including generous cutoff times and "fish whisperers" who are available on course to help.

Question 3

Do I need to be a fast runner to be successful at the Flyathlon?

Accepted Answer

Again, the answer is no.  As mentioned above, our cutoff times are super long so you can hike and easily finish.  Additionally, we have prizes for the biggest AND smallest fish, so even if slow, you can secure a place in the Leisure Sports Olympics to compete for the grand championship!

Question 4

What on earth is the Leisure Sports Olympics?

Accepted Answer

This is our way of determining the overall winner of the event.  Top male / female finishers face off against the catchers of the biggest /smallest fish in a game of cornhole.  The winning team then faces off in a Daisy Red Ryder BB-rifle shoot out for the title.   GAME ON!
