Silicon Valley Virtual Reality is the largest and longest running VR Meetup community.  Our mission is to promote a healthy and diverse ecosystem of VR entrepreneurs, developers, investors, users and creators across all platforms.  We strive to support open hardware, open platforms and open source projects whenever possible.  Our membership is made of of people who see VR and all of the XR space as the future of human-computer interaction and an important step in our collective experience.Since 2013, SVVR has been hosting monthly meetups and events to support the VR industry and the creation of a new ecosystem of developers, users, entrepreneurs and investors.After a hiatus due to the Pandemic we're back and eager to see what the next phase of VR enables us to create, connect and build the future we all can share in.  Our community members often lead the way in creating key pieces of the platforms and technologies that shape the industry and we don't expect that trend to stop.Our meetups are a chance to connect with each other, try new demos, listen to talks that matter and forge relationships that make the VR community the best it can be.Join us!

SPECIAL VENUE: PICO XR /ByteDance Office in San JoseWe've received an exciting sponsorship from Pico to host us in their San Jose office. This means all attendees must register by Tuesday 1/20 in order for us to supply Pico with a full attendee list for security purposes. Your name and email will be used for the guest list and required for entry, so be sure that they are correct here on Eventbrite.Upon arrival, park in the parking lot and check in to the event at the visitor center.

Our featured speaker this month:🎤 Our speaker this month is Greg Fodor who has over a decade of experience in XR as an engineering lead on both AltspaceVR and Mozilla Hubs. Greg will share the development journey of his latest project, PortalVR, which enables a new way to play any Steam VR title without wearing a headset. We expect that this subject will generate some lively debate around the state of VR, why you would want to play VR games without the headset, and what constitutes an immersive experience.We'll also likely have a few members fresh from CES to share all of the latest XR news from the show!
