The Judgment of Paris Blind Wine Tasting
Relive 1976's "Judgment of Paris" with a blind tasting of classic varietals from California and France. Who will win this time?
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of "The Judgment in Paris" we're bringing the challenge, the fun, and most importantly, the wine to you! Join us for a re-match between California and France at this blind tasting to see whether now, a half century later, old world or new world wines can claim the crown!
The Judgment of Paris was a historic 1976 blind wine tasting in Paris where California wines unexpectedly beat top French wines, revolutionizing the wine world and establishing the reputation of American wines, particularly from Napa Valley. Organized by Steven Spurrier, the event pitted California Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons against French Burgundy and Bordeaux, with California taking first place in both categories, shocking the judges and changing perceptions of New World wines. The Judgement of Paris will be re-enacted here with you, the guests as the judges! Join us in welcoming back Shannon Behnen, sommelier with Vintegrity Wines, who will be here to guide attendees in a battle of the classic grape varietals!
We will do things a little differently and do 3 rounds, with 2 wines per round. The wines will be poured blindly for each round, not knowing which wine is from France, and which is from the US. Can you decide who makes the better wine?
Round 1: Chardonnay
Round 2: Pinot Noir
Round 3: Cabernet Sauvignon
Along with the six wines (a Californian and French of each varietal), guests will enjoy charcuterie and light fare. We're going to have a lot of fun, drink some wine, eat some cheese, and see who will come out on top now! Seating is limited, so reserve your seats today!!
Note: If you'd like to be seated with another group who has signed up separately, we'd be grateful if you inform us a day or two prior to the event. This really helps us out when it comes to planning the seating arraignment.
Refund Policy: If notified 72 hours or more before the event we are happy to provide guests with a full refund of your ticket price (Eventbrite will not refund any fees). If you should need to cancel in less than 72 hours, we can either roll your tickets over into a different event or offer you a store credit for the ticket price (which will not include Eventbrite fees). Feel free to contact us with any questions.
