Erosion & Sediment Control Inspector Course (DEQ-Approved)
Oregon DEQ 1200-C and 1200-CN permits require each project to designate a certified Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Inspector. This DEQ-approved course fulfills that requirement and equips participants with the essential knowledge to comply with the conditions of the DEQ 1200-C permit.
What You’ll Learn This 6.5-hour training covers the full scope of erosion and sediment control essentials, including:
- History and implementation of stormwater regulations
- Environmental impacts of stormwater runoff
- Fundamentals of erosion and sedimentation
- Key regulatory elements of the 1200-C permit
- 1200-C inspection and reporting requirements
- Common best management practices (BMPs)
Course Format
- Classroom Instruction
- ESC Skills Demonstration
- Certification Exam (80% passing score required)
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an RVSS ESC Inspector Certification, valid for 3 years.
Who Should Attend
This course is open to all, but especially valuable for:
- Visual monitors / inspectors for 1200-C/CN sites
- Construction site supervisors and workers
- Developers and project engineers
- Staff involved in preparing or reviewing ESC plans
- Property owners planning development
- Public officials and agency staff
