Teaching on Autopilot: Signs of Depersonalization and What to Do Next
Teachers, are you feeling numb, checked out, or irritable at work? Join us to explore the burnout dimension -depersonalization.
Join us Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. CST/11:00 a.m. EST for Teaching on Autopilot: Signs of Depersonalization and How to Start Reconnecting at Your Own Pace. This workshop is a supportive, teacher-centered workshop focused on depersonalization —one of the key dimensions of burnout (often experienced as mental distance, numbness, or cynicism at work).
When your work environment stays intense, “pushing through” can unintentionally reinforce the detachment instead of resolving it. - CDC
In this workshop, you’ll learn:
- Early signs of depersonalization and why they’re often missed
- Why pushing through can make detachment worse (and what to do instead)
- Ways to reconnect at your own pace—without forcing fake positivity or overextending yourself
You’ll leave with practical, teacher-realistic reconnection strategies you can start using immediately—during transitions, after hard moments, and throughout the week—to help you feel more present, grounded, and like yourself again.
This Workshop Is For You If…
- You dread going to work when you once loved it.
- You think of your day as “survive until dismissal.”
- You feel emotionally numb during lessons, as if you're on autopilot.
- You find yourself using sarcasm more often, even when you should be more empathetic.
- You notice yourself caring less about relationships with students or coworkers than you used to.
- You feel guilty for not caring, but you can’t seem to turn caring back on.
These are not signs that you are a bad teacher, but signs that you may be experiencing depersonalization. This is a stress response trying to protect you, and you deserve compassion to help you through this process.
Join us for this workshop. You deserve it.
(Note: This workshop is educational and supportive, not a medical diagnosis. If symptoms feel intense or persistent, seeking professional support can be a strong next step.)
