The Year of Boundaries: Part 1 of 4: Healing & Boundaries (Honor Yourself)
Get ready to dive deep into personal growth and self-care in this empowering event focused on healing and setting boundaries.
SESSION 1: HEALING & BOUNDARIES
Learning to Honor Yourself
This is where the journey begins.
Healing & Boundaries is the powerful opening session of The Year of Boundaries. It invites participants to turn inward and uncover why setting boundaries can feel so hard, and how to change that.
Many people struggle with boundaries not because they lack strength, but because past experiences taught them to over-give, stay silent, or tolerate harm. Led by JaKay Matheny, Sr., LCSW, this trauma-informed session helps participants explore those patterns without shame and begin reframing boundaries as self-respect, self-care, and emotional safety.
WHAT YOU’LL EXPLORE
• Emotional wounds and recurring patterns
• How trauma impacts boundary-setting
• Releasing guilt around saying “no”
• Healthy boundaries vs. emotional walls
• Creating internal safety through self-honoring choices
Boundaries aren’t about controlling others—they’re about protecting your well-being.
SESSION GOAL
Participants will gain clarity on their boundary challenges, release shame around needing limits, and begin practicing boundaries as a form of emotional and mental self-care.
FORMAT
• Keynote presentation
• Expert panel discussion
• Community Q&AWHY THIS SESSION MATTERS
Session 1 is the cornerstone of The Year of Boundaries. Without healing the self first, boundaries in relationships, leadership, and future planning won’t stick. This session moves participants from survival mode toward self-trust, clarity, and emotional safety. This session sets the stage for everything that follows.
