What is a rain garden?
One of many sources of information about the subject of rain gardening, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) describes a rain garden as "a depressed area in the landscape that collects rainwater from a roof, driveway or street and allows it to soak into the ground." The EPA cites advantages of a rain garden as a cost effective and beautiful way to reduce water runoff, filter out pollutants, and provide food and shelter to wildlife, songbirds and butterflies. This information and more about rain gardens can be found at the EPA website: https://www.epa.gov/soakuptherain/soak-rain-rain-gardens
