What vaccinations does Tampa Bay Downs require for my dog and how can I upload them?

While not required, we ask that all dogs over eight months of age have current rabies, bordetella, and distemper vaccinations

Does my corgi or corgi-mix need to be spayed or neutered?

Accepted Answer

No, your dog does not need to be spayed or neutered to race. However, we ask all pet parents to be responsible—please do not bring dogs who are currently in heat to avoid any unexpected tomfoolery on the racetrack.

Can I bring children with me?

Yes! All ages are welcome at Tampa Bay Downs!

Question 4

Do I need 2 people to participate in a race?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Each racing corgi needs to bring two adult humans along for the race; one is the starter and the other is the receiver.  Some volunteers may be available, but will be limited.

How old does my corgi or corgi-mix need to be in order to race?

We ask that all doggos be at least 8 months old in order to help protect their growing bones.

Question 6

Does my corgi need to be trained to race?

Accepted Answer

Nope! As long as your corgi is happy, friendly, and comfortable around other dogs and people, they’re welcome to race. Some run fast, some waddle, and some just stop to sniff—it’s all part of the fun!

When will I know if my dog has been confirmed to race?

You will receive an email confirmation after your registration and racing fee has been confirmed.  Please be patient as this is a manual process and may take a couple of days.

What if I miss the race check-in time?

Unfortunately, missing the check-in time of the race will result in disqualification and forfeiture of race fees.

What if I miss my assigned heat introduction to the race?

Accepted Answer

After check-in, you are encouraged to wait with your assigned Heat.  The race will proceed quickly and missing the introduction of your assigned Heat may result in disqualification and forfeiture of race fees.

Question 10

I arrived to the race location. Now what do I do?

Accepted Answer

You must check in with the Race Team and pick up your race packet.  You will confirm your heat number and race position.  Then proceed to the staging area with your assigned heat.  After the races we encourage you to spend time enjoying Two Shepherds Taproom and all of the furry friends!
