Foundation of Kayaking 103- Introduction to Whitewater Working on paddling skills on class 2 river.
Foundations of River Kayaking Core Program, aka Foundations Core, is an in-depth series of clinics designed for people with little to no experience with kayaking. It is a slow and steady approach that goes from dry land to class 2+ whitewater over the course of 4 months, learning about gear, logistics, Essential Maneuvers, Navigating in Moving Water, Rolling, and basic of whitewater features. At the end of the program, members from the club come together to celebrate the accomplishment of the Foundations Core students by paddling alongside them on a Graduation trip on the Nantahala River, so students not only learn skills, but also get plugged into a community in which they can thrive for years to come.
