ABOUT THIS SHOW

Border CrosSing transforms into a full-fledged salsa band in this joyful, family-friendly program featuring a vibrant rhythm section and our amazing vocalists, joined by members of our community chorus Heritage Choir, for an even bigger and richer sound. Under the direction of Ahmed Anzaldúa, who will also take the stage at the piano, the ensemble dives into a spirited mix of classic and contemporary Latin American dance hits, from beloved favorites to lesser-known gems, all in novel choral arrangements. This won’t be a sit-still kind of night: our dance instructors will get people out of their seats and moving their bodies! Whether you choose to soak it all in or jump right into the movement, there is something for everyone. With highlights like the timeless Como Fue and the iconic Ojalá Que Llueva Café, this celebratory program promises an evening of rhythm, nostalgia, and irresistible fun for all ages.

Border CrosSing

Border CrosSing is an award-winning, Minnesota-based, choral arts nonprofit. Our mission is to cross borders through choral music. Founded in 2017 by Artistic Director Ahmed Anzaldúa, we envision a fundamental change in classical music culture, so that every concert, every audience, and the artists on stage truly reflect the cultural reality in which we live. Our work provides opportunities for people from different communities to understand each other in new ways through our multilingual Puentes concert series; ¡Dale!, our educational outreach partnerships with local students and educators; Heritage Choir, our inclusive, bilingual community chorus; bilingual community singing events; and our sheet music available through Graphite Publications.

Our mission-driven work includes our 2025 self-produced performance of Osvaldo Golijov’s Oceana at the Ordway Concert Hall; our historic 2019 performance of Golijov’s La Pasión según San Marcos with the Minnesota Orchestra; our cherished El Mesías programs that combine Handel's Messiah in a bilingual setting with Navidad Nuestra by Argentine composer Ariel Ramírez; our sheet music publications featuring works and arrangements by living composers and new performing editions of historical Latin American vocal music; and our two studio albums, "Un milagro de fe" and "Aquí te amo," that celebrate underrecognized composers from across the Americas. We are honored to be recipients of the 2025 Alice Parker Fund Award from Chorus America and the 2020 Chorus America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming.
