The Association Cocktail Classes

Established in 2008The Association, located in the historic Bank District in Downtown, LA, is a low-key, NYC-style lounge, offering classic cocktails in a warm and inviting ambiance.Shielded on the subterranean level of the Pacific Electric Lofts building, The Association's exterior is simply represented by its unique black door with a brass lion head knocker. It is dimly lit and strategically split in two sections--the bar and the lounge area--offering guests variety in space and atmosphere. The musical taste of the venue is considered eclectic, ranging from classic rock to disco, alternative, new age and lounge.The lounge is characterized by its intimate leather banquettes, mirrored light fixtures, brass ornaments and Vegas casino--style, regal carpets.The Association's cocktail menu, conceptualized by San Francisco based consultant Kent Howard and owner Ashley Joyce, consists of an impressive list of classic concoctions such as America's first-ever created cocktail, the "Sazerac".

CLASS BY ASSOCIATION offers cocktail enthusiasts an opportunity to delve deeper and refine their knowledge of cocktails. Classes explore bar basics, tools and techniques as well as individual spirits, their history and use in classic and contemporary cocktails.The Association hosts the one-hour class every Fridays &amp; Saturdays from 8pm-9pm.All classes are $45 per person and include:• 1-hour PRIVATE cocktail class• Tasting of 3-4 craft cocktails• Social Hours 9-10:30pm with special cocktail pricingFor optimized enjoyment, we limit classes to 25 seats.Registration is required for participation. Here we discuss the different aging processes and flavor profiles that makes this spirit one of the most popular in the world… and for good reason.FRIDAY 4/10 - FIRE Our most popular class, here we will show you the secrets of our famous old fashioned on fire, as well as other techniques to impress all your friends at your next party. We’ll bring the fire extinguishers.SATURDAY 4/11 - LA COCKTAILS Los Angeles isn't just home of Tiki drinks it’s also the birthplace of some of the greatest drinks ever made. This class will concentrate on the best new drinks coming out of the city of angels and all of the classics that put us on the map for bars worldwide.FRIDAY 4/17 - DESSERT COCKTAILS If you have a sweet tooth and love to drink your sugars this class is for you. We will look into some old school, new and original after dinner drinks. (Dairy warning)SATURDAY 4/18 - COFFEE Espresso martinis are all the rage nowadays... learn about this and other delicious coffee inspired cocktails you'll love.FRIDAY 4/24 - POOLSIDE This class is all about fun in the sun! We showcase the most refreshing drinks to pair with a day outside by the pool. With the cocktails we show you here, your next pool party will be sure to have people cooling off in style.SATURDAY 4/25 - BARTENDERS CHOICE Wanna know what we are drinking? (Off the clock of course) MAY FRIDAY 5/1 - GIN Gin is one of the most versatile spirits for cocktails. Here we will showcase the different types and flavor profiles and how to use them to your advantage.SATURDAY 5/2 - MEXICAN COCKTAILS Come out and try some of the delicious offerings and ingredients from our neighbors to the south! We go over what spirits to use and some classics that have changed the face of cocktails worldwide.FRIDAY 5/8 - TEQUILA You've been drinking the wrong tequila, let us show you the way. Here we discuss the different aging processes and flavor profiles that makes this spirit one of the most popular in the world… and for good reason.SATURDAY 5/9- COCKTAILS ACROSS THE WORLD Think of it like a really cool foreign exchange program. Here we explore some of the national cocktails and local libations from countries around the world.FRIDAY 5/15- SMOKE This class will have us using smoke in our drinks! There are more than a couple ways to use smoke in your cocktails and attendees will get a chance to taste/learn about them all!SATURDAY 5/16 - SPICY 🌶 Love your spicy cocktails? There's more out there than just spicy margaritas. Learn about some of the most popular spicy cocktails of today. FRIDAY 5/22 - MEZCAL A look at our neighbor to the south and their amazing, artisanal, magical spirit of Mezcal (the origins of tequila), and all it's different varietals.SATURDAY 5/23 - FIRE Our most popular class, here we will show you the secrets of our famous old fashioned on fire, as well as other techniques to impress all your friends at your next party. We’ll bring the fire extinguishers.FRIDAY 5/29 - TIKI The origins of these “Island” style cocktails may surprise you. Come for the fresh flavors, stay for the rum… lots and lots of rum.SATURDAY 5/30 - SPARKLING WINE Who doesn't love a good mimosa? But, there's a lot more to sparkling wine cocktails, and you're going to thank us later.
