West Hyler and Shelley Butler are directors who've worked on Broadway, across America, and around the world, with a combined career spanning over four decades. They have both built acclaimed careers as directors in the theater world. Their journey began when they met in the summer of 2004, and they have since founded the South Carolina New Play Festival, now heading into its fifth year in downtown Greenville. Hyler, originally from Kentucky, and Butler, from Maine, have both had busy years with Hyler directing the world premiere of a new musical in Sofia, Bulgaria, and Butler directing the world premiere of a new play in New York City. They are married and have a 15 year old son.
This season of the Sigal Music Museum Distinguished Lecture Series is made possible by the generous sponsorship of The Woodlands at Furman.
