This <a href="https://www.pca.state.mn.us/business-with-us/smart-salting-training" title="https://www.pca.state.mn.us/business-with-us/smart-salting-training" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MPCA Smart Salting</a> for Rural Roads Certification Training offers efficient road maintenance best practices for those who primarily maintain roads that do not require quick bare pavement levels of service for winter maintenance including gravel roads. We also touch on dust suppressants and water softening for communities that may be getting a chloride limit at their Wastewater Treatment Facility. Participants will learn how to integrate science with practical winter maintenance on roads while minimizing impacts on the environment.Who should attend:<ul><li>City, county, township staff or contractors.</li></ul><ul><li>Private winter maintenance contractors and staff</li></ul><ul><li>Those who supervise winter maintenance professionals</li><li>Wastewater permittees getting a chloride limit</li></ul>What you'll learn:<ul><li>Environmental impacts of chloride</li><li>Policy</li></ul><ul><li>Plowing and physical removal</li></ul><ul><li>Equipment calibration</li><li>Materials application rates</li></ul><ul><li>Use real-time weather condition information</li></ul><ul><li>BMPs for storing materials</li><li>Gravel road maintenance for dust suppression</li><li>Water softening basics</li></ul>The MPCA Smart Salting Certification test will be offered at the end of training. Those that pass will be listed on the <a href="https://www.pca.state.mn.us/business-with-us/smart-salting-training" title="https://www.pca.state.mn.us/business-with-us/smart-salting-training" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">MPCA Smart Salting Training webpage</a>. The certification is valid for five years.Registration closes January 19 at 3:00pm.This is an in-person training and lunch will be provided.Training questions?
