CERT: Fire Safety and Utility Controls
Learn how to stay safe during fires and control utilities.
After a disaster such as an earthquake, fires may arise. In this unit participants will learn about fires and be trained how to deal with small fires. Participants will also learn about various utility considerations. This class is for both CERT members and also individuals who want to know more about these subjects.
Topics include: classes of fire, choosing the correct means to extinguish each type of fire, portable fire extinguishers and how to operate them, identifying potentially dangerous materials in storage,in transit, and in their home, and fire and utility hazards in the home and workplace to implement successful fire prevention strategies.
