Is the festival accessible by public transit?

Yes. Metro-North's New Haven Line stops at South Norwalk Station (SoNo), approximately one mile from Veterans Memorial Park. Taxis and rideshares are readily available from the station.

Most vendors and food stalls accept credit and debit cards, but it is a good idea to have some cash on hand. Three ATMs are available on-site.

No. Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the festival.

No. Coolers, bottles, cans, large bags, chairs, and backpacks are not permitted. All bags are subject to inspection at the entrance gates.

No. A City of Norwalk ordinance prohibits dogs from Veterans Park, however, certified service dogs with documentation are welcomed.

What should I wear or bring?

The festival is held outdoors on a grassy waterfront park in September, so keep a few things in mind:

Comfortable, sturdy shoes are strongly recommended — heels and sandals are not ideal for grass
Evenings on the harbor can be cool, so bring a layer
Check the forecast and dress for the weather

The Norwalk Oyster Festival is a rain-or-shine event. No refunds are issued due to weather.

Where do the festival proceeds go?

Accepted Answer

The Norwalk Seaport Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit solely responsible for organizing and financing the annual Oyster Festival. Proceeds support the Association's ongoing educational and maritime programs.
