Science Comedy @ SPRUNG! 2026 Comedy Festival

Science Comedy Night, a one-of-a-kind show that blends science with stand-up comedy, is coming back to SPRUNG! Comedy Festival. Hosted by science journalist, and comedian Kasha Patel, this show mixes fun with facts with stand up comedy.

Kasha Patel is a stand-up comedian and journalist. She holds a chemistry and science journalism degree. She was named one of the “Best Undiscovered Comedians” in the U.S. by Thrillist magazine because of her unique voice that couples life as an Indian-American and her love for science. She gave a TEDx talk called “Sneaking Science into Stand-Up,” where she shares a series of surprising revelations pulled from her analysis of more than 500 of her stand-up jokes. She has been featured on NPR, BBC World, Travel Channel, The Science Channel, The Weather Channel, and hosted a miniseries on NASA TV.

This show promise sto deliver a night that is both funny and educational—no lab coat required!

SPRUNG! is Silver Spring's very own comedy festival. Over four nights in March 2026, Improbable Comedy will present 10 unique shows of hilarious comedy at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre, along with comedy classes and events.

About Improbable Comedy: Founded in 2012 by social-worker-turned-comedy-producer Kim Levone, Improbable Comedy has hosted hundreds of shows in local venues around the DMV. The goal has been to transform the industry by giving the mic to hilarious comedians who have been underrepresented on stage. Since our first show at Vicino's restaurant, we have brought big laughs to theatres, bars, swanky clubs, and people's homes. We now have regular shows at Busboys & Poets and the Arts Barn as well as partnerships with the Montgomery Parks Department and at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre. Parking: The Black Box is a short walk from the Silver Spring metro and there is parking in the area garages on Ellsworth and Cameron St.

Concessions: The Silver Spring Black Box is theatre seating. We will sell light snacks and drinks in the lobby before the show.
