This professional development makes use of LEGO® EDUCATION SPIKE™ TECHNOLOGY and FIRST® LEGO® LEAGUE FOUNDERS EDITION!

You will work with other educators during this two-day learning experience that provides you with all the tools you need to facilitate this FIRST® program and achieve STEM learning objectives in your classroom. This professional development is designed for new and inexperienced teachers, facilitators, coaches, and mentors to enhance their overall FIRST® program knowledge. PLEASE NOTE: The first session starts on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 8:30am - 4:30pm. The second session is on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Please make travel arrangements to allow to attend both sessions the full amount of time. As a participant in the FIRST® LEGO® League Discover and Explore immersive learning experience you will:<ul><li>Learn to foster student computational thinking and collaboration skills, and how to guide students through the science behind the Explore theme and facilitate the creative design of a solution to a real-world problem</li></ul><ul><li>Utilize, model, and reinforce the FIRST® Core Values</li><li>Work in small groups with other attendees using the FIRST® LEGO® League Discover Set and LEGO® Education STEAM Park</li><li>Work in small groups with other attendees using a LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential robot set</li><li>Learn introductory icon-based programming concepts using the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App</li><li>Participate in the FIRST® LEGO® League Discover and Explore experience from a student's point of view and more!</li></ul> FIRST® will provide for use during professional development:<ul><li>FIRST ® LEGO® League Discover Set</li><li>LEGO® Education STEAM Park</li><li>FIRST® LEGO® League Explore Set</li><li>LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential Set</li><li>Digital copies of the Team Meeting Guide and Engineering Notebook</li></ul> You need to bring:<ul><li>Computer with Internet Access</li><li>Software downloaded &amp; updated prior to first session – <a href="https://education.lego.com/en-us/downloads" title="https://education.lego.com/en-us/downloads" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://education.lego.com/en-us/downloads </a>- Select SPIKE™ Essential and then click on the drop arrow to choose your device for downloading – Note: be sure to download, install, and restart your computer</li></ul> <a href="https://www.firstinspires.org/hubfs/web/edu/pd/hotels-indianapolis.pdf" title="https://www.firstinspires.org/hubfs/web/edu/pd/hotels-indianapolis.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LOCAL HOTEL OPTIONS</a><a href="https://www.firstinspires.org/hubfs/web/edu/pd/food-indianapolis.pdf" title="https://www.firstinspires.org/hubfs/web/edu/pd/food-indianapolis.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">LOCAL FOOD OPTIONS</a> CANCELLATION POLICY:FIRST® Cancellation - A minimum of 4 participants are required. You will be notified 2 weeks prior if there is not a minimum of participants. If a cancellation occurs, you will be given additional options to attend a different cohort.Participant Cancellation - Paid FIRST® Professional Development is nonrefundable. If you are unable to attend the paid Professional Development and need to cancel your registration, you may reschedule up to one time to a future date, but within 12 months of the original date. Substitutions (one individual for another) are allowed at any time. Please let us know your intent within 72 hours before the start date by sending an email to FIRSTProfessionalServices@firstinspires.org. If you do not cancel within 72 hours and do not attend the workshop you will forfeit the opportunity to reschedule.NOTE: If you reside in Connecticut, New Mexico, South Dakota, or West Virginia sales tax applies. Please email FIRSTProfessionalServices@firstinspires.org to receive registration payment instructions for these states, or to provide us with a tax-exempt form. Full payment must be received for admission to this session. If payment is received without applicable taxes, we will contact you.
