By The Sanctuary Studio for the Arts & Humanities

Overview

Dynamic jazz guitar, heartfelt expression, and improvisational brilliance.

Join us for an evening with Houston Nguyen, an exciting up-and-coming jazz guitarist based in Los Angeles and Orange County. Drawing inspiration from legends like Sonny Rollins, Billy Strayhorn, and Wayne Shorter, as well as modern guitar innovators such as Mike Moreno, Jonathan Kreisberg, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, Houston is crafting a distinctive voice on the guitar that blends tradition with fresh creativity.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance at the USC Thornton School of Music, Houston has studied with acclaimed musicians including Gerald Clayton, Mike Moreno, Dave Stryker, Bruce Forman, Alex Hahn, Joey Sellers, and Ron Stout. With a foundation from Saddleback College and a growing presence in the Southern California jazz scene, his performances promise both technical brilliance and heartfelt expression.

Experience an intimate evening of dynamic jazz and soulful improvisation with one of the region’s emerging guitar talents.
