Lee-Fendall House Museum & GardenAlexandria, VA
Saturday, May 16  •  2 PM - 4 PM
Overview

Explore Lee-Fendall’s house and gardens through the perspective of a Civil War soldier.

From 1863-1865, Lee-Fendall served as the Union’s Grosvenor Branch Hospital. During this time, over one thousand soldiers were treated at the hospital, and all but nearly one hundred survived. Those who did not recover died from a variety of causes, ranging from gunshot wounds to frozen feet.

Civil War Living History Day will explore the lives and losses of soldiers at the Grosvenor Branch Hospital. This program is sure to educate all ages through activities, mini-lectures, and stations, immersing them in local and national history by inviting participants to assume the role of historical figures.

Life and Death at Grosvenor Branch will cover everything from the use of medicinal plants, the unique genre of Civil War poetry, and ancestral research regarding a soldier who died in the house.

The event will be from 2-4pm, and you are welcome to come at any point during that window. Tickets are $15, please reach out to contact@leefendallhouse.org or (703)-548-1789 with any questions.
