While with Paragon Pure, Matt has initiated a USDA grant project, established IP and led product development. Matt has contributed to patented innovations in a range of food science disciplines, including flavor delivery systems, solutions to enhance the dissolution rate of poorly soluble sweetness-modifying ingredients, technologies for granule and powder formation, and lipid oleogel systems. He previously worked for Ingredion, where he led the confocal and electron microscopy lab for characterizing food structures. Matt earned an MS in Materials Science at Georgia Tech, where he completed a thesis project on the synthesis and characterization of polycarbosilane as a precursor to silicon carbide fibers.
