Please join Cathy Taylor and come to dance as we raise funds for the “Ouchless ER Project” to make the upcoming child vaccines “ouchless!”

Join us on ZOOM or in-person at "The Garage" - an outdoor, covered, parking structure located at 1 Thorndale Drive in San Rafael - for a one-hour Stop Drop And Dance class:<ul><li>Costumes encouraged but wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and be prepared for a non-stop cardio workout!</li><li>Children are welcome with a dancing parent (no drop-offs please).</li><li>Unfortunately, there are NO RESTROOMS available.</li><li>Come as early as 9:15am to save your spot in class!</li><li>Masks are recommended for unvaccinated individuals.</li><li>If you are joining on ZOOM, look for the Eventbrite Confirmation in your email and scroll to the bottom to find your link.</li></ul>If you can't make the class on Saturday morning, no worries! We will send out the recording, and it will be available for 2 days afterwards for everyone who donates. Thank you for your support!

The "Ouchless ER Project" is planning on providing supplies to make the upcoming large-scale COVID vaccination clinics in Marin County child-friendly! “Ouchless” care is an approach that helps make medical procedures as painless and anxiety-free as possible for children. This type of care is commonly practiced in dedicated pediatric hospitals.Kids and needles can get a little tricky. A little extra planning and TLC during the first vaccination will really help our kids for the second vaccination just a quick three weeks later. Together, let’s make this experience as “ouchless” as possible! Kids are not just little adults!Our fundraising goal is $10,000!!!!! We have an anonymous donor who will generously match up to $5,000 of what we raise.Help us raise money for the "Ouchless ER Project" to purchase supplies such as:<ul><li>10,000 packs of stickers, fun bandaids, crayons etc for coloring activities while kids wait 15 minutes after receiving the vaccine</li><li>Fun headbands for staff to wear</li><li>Life-size cardboard cutouts of movie characters or sports heros</li><li>Decorations and more!</li></ul>

The "Ouchless ER Project" was created by Marin mom, Cathy Taylor, a sonographer at UCSF Medical Center. Seven years ago, the Taylors had an unfortunate experience at an ER in Marin county, when their son, who was only 3 years old, was brought in by EMS. Ultimately, he was found to be healthy, yet, the experience was quite unsettling. This experience was easily avoidable with the help of simple training and specialized techniques to help calm a child in a healthcare setting. Following this event, Cathy started to dig into the problem. It had been long known that when a child was hurt or became dangerously ill in Marin County, the local care was variable and not formally tailored to address the emotional needs of our children. After a groundswell of support by our local hospitals and EMS team as well as the handwork by our healthcare heroes, tremendous progress has been made throughout our county. Currently, in Marin, from the time a child enters the EMS system until they are discharged from any of our three hospitals, they receive care designed to their unique needs.
