CPR – Center for Performance Research is dedicated to supporting artists in the development of new work in contemporary dance and performance. CPR focuses its activities in three key areas: creative and professional development support; providing affordable space for artists; and public programming. Curated and open-call programs focus on providing artists with rehearsal, residency, and performance support, which generates time and space for research and dialogue, and creates opportunities to share work in a variety of contexts. CPR’s subsidized space rental program helps to ensure that artists can access CPR’s flexible studios and performance space at affordable rates to create and share their work. By presenting work to the public through performances, work-in-progress showings, salon-style discussions, exhibitions, and festivals, CPR exposes local audiences and its community to contemporary artistic practice and process.

Co+life is a workshop and performance event addressing the urgent need for new cultures of true care within the dance industry.

Tickets: $15, advance reservation requiredThis performance will take place in-person at CPR. In accordance with the NYC mandate, documentation showing proof of full vaccination (at least 14 days after final dose) will be required to enter CPR. A physical or photo copy of your vaccination card or NYS Excelsior Pass will be acceptable, along with a photo ID. Masks will be required inside CPR.As part of their mission to nurture and support freelance dance artists in NYC, Dishman + Co. has organized Co+life, a workshop and performance event addressing the urgent need for new cultures of true care within the dance industry’s artistic and professional practices. The workshop invites introspection, individually and collectively, in an effort to activate healing and build creative community in a time of unrest and disconnection. The performance enacts these built connections, aiming to stir audiences toward change and draw attention to current dance making systems in need of reform.Co+life is committed to providing 20 NYC professional dancers with equitable living wages, video footage for professional use, prioritization of boundaries, and honoring of each collaborative voice through creative processes rooted in radical care. This workshop culminates in 2 performances and professional video capture that celebrates these brilliant individuals as they bravely embody our shared humanity.Collaborating Dance Artists: Wednesday, 10/27 - Katerina Belmatch, Natalie Cantalino, Marisa Clementi, Allison Costa, Heather Dutton, Hannah Franz, Jenna Hanlon, Abigail Linnemeyer, Anne Marie Robson Smock, and Kayla White.Thursday, 10/28 - Andrew Collins, Jessy Crist, Michaela Esteban, Jamie Kleinschnitz, Andie Knudson, Nisani Lopez, Kathryn McKenzie, Lydia Perakis, Jenna Purcell, and Alisya Razman.Co+life is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC).
