We are especially honored to welcome Dr. Cordell Adams, M.D., as our keynote speaker for the evening. Dr. Adams is a board-certified ophthalmologist and Chief of Ophthalmology at Baylor University Medical Center of Baylor Scott & White Healthcare Systems in Dallas, Texas. A nationally recognized physician, author, and business leader, Dr. Adams is a proud Jacksonville native and the first and only African American valedictorian of Jacksonville High School.

Dr. Adams’ presence carries deep historical and personal significance. He is the son of Mrs. Cordelia Adams, a proud graduate of Fred Douglass High School and one of the founders of the Fred Douglass Alumni Association. Mrs. Adams was also recognized by the Jacksonville Education Foundation as an Influential Educator for her distinguished service within the Jacksonville Independent School District. Her legacy of education, leadership, and community service continues through her son’s life and work.
