Description
A two-day 1916 Centenary Program that includes lectures, a keynote speech, a panel discussion, a newly released landmark 1916 documentary film, art and photography exhibits, music, poetry readings, and other cultural activities to encourage us to remember, reflect and reimagine the 1916 Rising, and its impact and significance today. The program will also include a special focus on the Women of 1916.
FREE ADMISSION to all events but Advance Reservations are required to attend the Reception at 5 pm on Saturday, April 23, and the Keynote Speech by Kevin Byrne, the Vice Consul of Ireland to the Western US.

5 pm: Evening Reception (Reservations required) - light hors d'oeuvres with music provided by the Ceol Cascadia Session Players
6 pm: Opening Remarks: President, Antioch University, Seattle, Dan Hocoy
6:10 pm: Keynote Speaker: Kevin Byrne, Vice-Consul of Ireland to the Western US
6:40 pm: Panel Discussion - “Views of the Rising and Irish Life Post Rebellion”: Irish Vice Consul Kevin Byrne, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (tentative), Belfast-born Rev. Barry Keating, SU History Professor Tom Murphy SJ, and UW History Professor George Behlmer. Moderated by Nicola Tannion.
7:30 pm: Irish musical performance by Soprano Sarah Dolan and guests.

The Irish Heritage Club is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious organization that organizes and promotes activities of an Irish cultural nature in the Greater Seattle area. Among its programs are: Ceol Cascadia Irish Music Association; Friends of St. Patrick in Seattle; Irish Network Seattle; Irish Reels Film Festival; Seattle Gaels Gaelic Football, Hurling & Camogie; Seattle Galway Sister City Association; Seattle Irish Immigrant Support; and Tacoma Rangers Hurling & Gaelic Football.
