NAP EYES
Halifax, Nova Sotia
Formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 2012, Nap Eyes have quietly become one of indie rock’s most dependable bands, releasing four critically acclaimed records and touring the world over. Centered around the songcraft of singer/songwriter Nigel Chapman – whose introspective and profound musings range from self-actualization to the cosmos to the molecular makeup of proteins – and fleshed out by longtime collaborators Seamus Dalton (drums), Josh Salter (bass) and Brad Loughead (guitar), Nap Eyes’ music recalls a number of familiar yet disparate touchstones ranging from The Velvet Underground to The Microphones. Following a trio of records that were all recorded live to tape with no overdubs (Whine of the Mystic (2015), Thought Rock Fish Scale (2016) and I’m Bad Now (2018)), Nap Eyes’ latest full-length Snapshot of a Beginner (2020) is proof that sometimes, the late bloomers bloom brightest. Recorded at The National’s Long Pond Studios in upstate New York with producers James Elkington (Wilco) and Jonathan Low (The National, Big Red Machine), Snapshot is the band’s boldest, most concentrated and most hi-fi album to date.
GLOSSER
Washington, DC

GLOSSER’s Riley Fanning and Corbin Sheehan’s kismetic meeting was born out of a search for meaning within their separate musical endeavors. Both avid artists in their own right, Sheehan was looking to expand his band, and Fanning was hoping to start one. Inspired by the likes of Beach House, Weyes Blood, and Phoebe Bridgers, they wrote songs together the first night they met, and GLOSSER was created in the front room of their house in the D.C. suburbs. Partnered with producer and genre-defying singer/songwriter Bartees Strange, he feels GLOSSER’s music emphasizes a “depth that isn’t found in other indie bands” and their time spent in his studio, 38 North, resulted in a sound so undeniably enigmatic and effervescent and new.
CARMEN CANEDO
Washington, DC
https://carmencanedo.bandcamp.com/
Pulling from a wide array of inspiration, Carmen Canedo creates a personal style that has a quiet, steady way of embracing the listener—drawing heavily from her upbringing in Nashville’s music scene, education in jazz guitar, and Bolivian music. After graduating high school in 2017, Canedo took a year off to travel and tend to herself. The time off resulted in the writing of Canedo’s first record, Wheels Are Turning. The following year, after enrolling in Smith College, she began touring with Nashville band, Dream Wave. Following a break from music, Carmen wrote “Nothing Less Nothing More” in one sitting, deciding then to finish her second record, Know It All. It centers around the onset of nostalgia, nervousness, heartbreak, and first loves.
