The Fowler Museum at UCLA explores global arts and cultures with an emphasis on Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas—past and present. The Fowler enhances understanding and appreciation of the diverse peoples, cultures, and religions of the world through dynamic exhibitions, publications, and public programs, informed by interdisciplinary approaches and the perspectives of the cultures represented. Also featured is the work of international contemporary artists presented within the complex frameworks of politics, culture and social action. Please join us at the Fowler Museum for a special gallery walk-through of Photo Cameroon: Studio Portraiture 1970-1990s with curator Erica P. Jones. Jones will highlight the key themes in the exhibition, with a particular emphasis on the sartorial choices of the sitters. Space is limited for this in-person program. Entry Requirements (full details in confirmation email):1. Guests must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth at all times2. Guests must bring one (1) of the following + valid photo ID -Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 -Proof of Negative COVID test no older than 72 hours. Test results must include first &amp; last name, date of sample collection, and negative result.Erica P. Jones is curator of African Arts at the Fowler Museum at UCLA. She received her PhD in Art History at UCLA, specializing in African art. Since joining the Fowler in 2015, she has organized multiple exhibitions, among them: Pantsula 4 LYF (2017); Meleko Mokgosi: Bread, Butter, and Power (2018); Inheritance: Recent Video Art from Africa (2019); and On Display in the Walled City: The Nigerian Pavilion at the British Empire Exhibition 1924-1925 (2019).
