Inside the Music – A Rare Glimpse into Jazz in the Making!Step behind the scenes of Baltimore’s vibrant jazz scene with free open rehearsals featuring two extraordinary ensembles: Peabody’s Graduate Jazz Ensemble and The Funn Band.This is your chance to witness the magic of jazz as it unfolds — where musicians shape their sound, refine their craft, and bring music to life right before your eyes. Arrive early to soak in every note! This is an observation-only experience — come to listen, learn, and be inspired.About the Artists:Peabody Graduate Jazz Ensemble Directed by renowned trumpeter Sean Jones, the Graduate Jazz Ensemble (GJE) is a dynamic new group dedicated to the recipients of the Graduate Jazz Fellowship. Focused on community-engaged artistry, GJE cultivates expressive, flexible, and collaborative musicians. Members compose and perform original works, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the community as educational artists — making a meaningful impact through their craft.Charles Funn &amp; The Funn Band A Morgan State College graduate and retired BCPSS band instructor with 44 years of experience, Charles Funn is a celebrated musician who has performed with legends like Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Dizzy Gillespie. His numerous accolades include the Jazz Hero Award (2015), Benny Golson Jazz Masters Award (2018), and Baltimore Jazz Alliance Award (2022).
