This online workshop is specifically to empower parents of LGBTQ+ and Gender Nonconforming Youth and their suicide prevention skills.

Event is based on Phoenix, therefore it will begin at 5 pm Phoenix time, which right now is the same as Los Angeles. This 90 minute workshop provided by Pride &amp; Joy Foundation, take participants through their ALP ™ program: Ask. Listen. Plan.Parents and caregivers will be taught the specific risk factors for LGBTQ+ and GNC youth. Because knowledge is power.Parents and caregivers are then taught a variety of effective questions to Ask their child to open up the dialogue around mental health and suicide awareness.Next, participants will learn active listening skills in order to maximize the effectiveness of communication.Finally, participants are offered a framework of how to support their child in creating a support plan that fits their specific needs, drawing on local and national resources.Participation can vary from simply listening with your camera off to fully engaged with camera on and sharing experiences. Due to privacy and the sensitive topic, the program will NOT be recorded or available for replay.
