How do I prepare for the first session?

Purchase the book, read the first three chapters, and come ready to share your thoughts! We'll provide the readers guide & discussion questions after you register.  "The Perfect Story" by Karen Eber  is available through major booksellers in both physical and digital formats.

What if I've never been part of a book club before?

Perfect! This is a welcoming space for everyone. We'll provide a reader's guide and discussion questions to help facilitate meaningful conversation. Just come with an open mind and willingness to share your thoughts.

Do I need to be an experienced storyteller to join?

Not at all! This book club welcomes storytellers of any level—from complete beginners to seasoned performers. If you're curious about storytelling, that's all the experience you need.

How many chapters should I read each week?

We'll cover three chapters per week over our six sessions (18 chapters total). We recommend staying on pace with the group, but if you want to read ahead, that's fine too!

What if I can't attend all six sessions?

While we encourage attending all six sessions for the most impactful experience, we understand life gets busy. You can register for single sessions at $4 each if you can't commit to the full series.  While starting from the beginning gives you the full experience, you're welcome to join any session.

What will we actually do during the sessions?

We'll have guided discussions using provided questions and a reader's guide. You'll have opportunities to share insights, ask questions, explore storytelling techniques, and connect with fellow story enthusiasts in a supportive environment.

Is there homework besides reading the chapters?

The primary "homework" is reading the assigned three chapters each week. The reader's guide and discussion questions are provided to enhance your understanding, but there's no pressure to complete written assignments.

What's the difference between the $18 and $4 registration options?

The $18 option gives you access to all six sessions (a savings of $6!). The $4 option is for single-session registration if you can only attend specific dates.

Is this just about reading, or will we practice storytelling?

This book club focuses on understanding the craft and art of storytelling through discussion and analysis. While we may reference personal storytelling experiences, this isn't a performance workshop.  I will be hosting a workshop in the spring.
