The Dominican Film Festival celebrates the best in Dominican Cinema with the goal to enrich the artistic experience of New York's diverse cultural audience.The Dominican Film Festival's mission is to promote the new generation of Dominican filmmakers as well as the established one, its film industry, and to strengthen the vital and expanding economic and cultural relationship with the United States.We also aim to keep New York City audiences informed about the Dominican Cinema and its relation to the history, politics and social life of this country, as treated by the film makers, through the subjects and aesthetic approach they focus on.

Todo iba mas o menos bien, hasta que Fuca y su banda de delincuentes llegan a imponer miedo y control. Con su carácter feroz y su lengua filosa, Carlota moviliza a su gente para defender lo suyo, entre protestas, exilios y mucha resistencia comunitaria. Esta es una comedia urbana que celebra el coraje de un barrio que vive bajo un solo lema: “El barrio unido jamás será vencido Carlota is a single-browed, unstoppable, and uncrowned boss of Villa Hermosa, a picturesque neighborhood in Santo Domingo that always finds a way to get ahead. Everything was going more or less well until Fuca and his gang of criminals arrive to impose fear and control. With her fierce temper and sharp tongue, Carlota mobilizes her people to defend their own, amidst protests, exiles, and a lot of community resistance. This is an urban comedy that celebrates the courage of a neighborhood that lives by a single motto: "A united neighborhood will never be defeated."
