6 Hr. LGBTQ+ Inclusive Coaching (March 23, 2026)
This *NEW* RCU training program exposes participants to best practices while challenging biases when working with LGBTQ+ clients and staff.
Course Description:
This highly interactive, 6-hour, discussion-based workshop will explore the unique experiences of the LGBTQ+ populations from the lens of our role as support professionals and what awareness and practices we can engage in to best serve them. Throughout the training, participants will have the opportunity to apply evidence-based coaching strategies and tools relevant to their work with those who live with substance use disorder and identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. This class incorporates first-hand experiences of LGBTQ+ community members.
This skills-based training will focus on:
- Exploring personal and cultural bias and its impact
- How to use high-level communication skills
- Motivational Interviewing to elicit client preferences
- Ethical responsibilities of recovery coaches
- Creating environments and processes that are LGBTQ+ inclusive
- Practice applying coaching skills within LGBTQ+ supportive relationships
