The Dominican Film Festival celebrates the best in Dominican Cinema with the goal to enrich the artistic experience of New York's diverse cultural audience.The Dominican Film Festival's mission is to promote the new generation of Dominican filmmakers as well as the established one, its film industry, and to strengthen the vital and expanding economic and cultural relationship with the United States.We also aim to keep New York City audiences informed about the Dominican Cinema and its relation to the history, politics and social life of this country, as treated by the film makers, through the subjects and aesthetic approach they focus on.

SINOPSIS&nbsp;&nbsp;La comunidad de Arroyo Cano en la provincia de San Juan es conocida por, entre otras cosas, ser escenario de crímenes perpetrados por un descuartizador conocido como Petete. Con el tiempo, esta infame persona se ha convertido en un personaje de mito popular, en parte porque nunca fue encontrado, y esta falta de información a dado oportunidad a la atribución de poderes y trabajos de vudú que lo protegieron durante su fuga.A través de entrevistas a la comunidad, familiares y amigos de Petete, se construye el rompecabezas de quién era la persona y, a través de lo que se ha divulgado a las nuevas generaciones, cómo y por qué se ha transformado en un mito. SYNOPSISThe community of Arroyo Cano in the province of San Juan is known for, among other things, being the scene of crimes perpetrated by a dismemberer known as Petete.Over time, this infamous individual has become a popular myth, in part because he was never found, and this lack of information has given rise to the attribution of voodoo powers and works that protected him during his escape.Through interviews with Petete's community, family, and friends, the mystery of who this person was is pieced together, and through what has been passed on to new generations, how and why he has become a myth.
