The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Katerina Brown will be performing with a wonderful quintet composed of bassist Gary Brown, pianist Adam Shulman drummer Jason Lewis , and special guest, on violin Mads Tolling .The warm, honeyed voice of Katerina Brown brings a fresh flavor to the world of jazz. Russian-born and trained, influenced by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Sara Vaughan, Katerina has traveled the globe, honing her distinctive sound. She can wind her way effortlessly through a velvety rendition of an American jazz standard, or powerfully, passionately command the notes of a romantic, Russian classic. Katerina Brown’s artful style and lush vocals are a classic in the making. Katerina will bring a beautiful evening of music that combines a exciting mixture of Russian Classical compositions from some of the most world renowned Russian Composers arranged in a contemporary jazz fashsion illustrating a remarkable connection between these two epic musical genres , a true combination made in heaven .
