City Blossoms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that cultivates the well-being of our communities through creative kid-driven gardens.Since 2008, City Blossoms has designed, developed, collaborated on, and provided programming or trainings for over 100 projects throughout Washington, DC and nationwide. Our work serves Black, Latino, and children of immiagrant backgrounds, ages 2-19.Applying our unique brand of gardens, science, art, healthy living, and community building, we "blossom" in neighborhoods where kids, their families, and neighbors may not otherwise have access to green spaces. Volunteer Event: The Farm at Fort Stanton Fall WorkdayLocation: 1812 Erie Street Southeast, Washington, DC 20020When: Saturday, October 16th 10am-1pmWorkday Details: We will convene at 10am within the garden to do a quick introduction before splitting up into smaller working groups. This event is a build day and may involve light construction and clearing out grass/weeds to make space for in-ground and raised beds. Please dress in outdoor clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toe shoes. Face masks are required. Participants are encouraged to bring water bottles, bug spray, and sunscreen. City Blossoms will provide gloves and tools. Please note that City Blossoms will host this workday rain or shine, unless otherwise specified.Additional Safety Guidelines: At City Blossoms, we are dedicated to maintaining everyone’s safety and well-being. As a team, we have been practicing social distancing and working remotely except when necessary for maintaining our gardens. To ensure that our Workdays are safe, we use the following precautions:<ul><li>Masks are required by all participants</li><li>Hand washing is available onsite and is required when participants enter the site</li><li>3 feet of distance is maintained between event participants</li><li>Hand sanitizer and wipes are readily available</li><li>Participants should bring their own water bottles</li><li>Please visit our COVID-19 Safety Updates &amp; Guidelines page to learn more.</li></ul>Parking Instructions: This site is located behind the Fort Stanton pool. Volunteers can park in the parking lot and walk back towards the farm.
