Mari Osanai was born in 1956 in Aomori, Japan. She is an independent dancer, choreographer, and teacher whose movement practice weaves together Noguchi Taiso, Butoh, Tai Chi, jazz, and traditional Aomori folk dance.Her work is deeply informed by a philosophy of weight, fluidity, and internal imagery rooted in gravity and natural elements.Mari is being hosted in Boston by Alissa Cardone, movement artist and Professor of Dance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee for a weekend of workshops and performances."[Osanai] is simply breathtaking, possessing a supple body that seems to have no spine, yet is anchored on a steel spike of consummate control" .. - Dance InternationalSoundscape by Christophe Charles.The performance will run approximately 1 hour.100% of the proceeds from ticket sales goes direct to the artist to pay for her transportation, expenses and fees. OTHER MARI OSANAI EVENTS/WORKSHOPS DURING HER VISIT:The workshop is an opportunity to immerse yourself in 9-hours of Noguchi Taiso (Waterbody Movement) and is open to all humans yet particularly potent for performers and artists in all media.Workshop Details Friday December 5th 6-9pm, Sat December 6th 10-1pm, and Sun December 7th 11-2pmWorkshop costs are: $180/3 days, $120/ 2-Day, $70/1-Day.
