This is a three-hour class in fruit tree horticulture. It is a complete introduction for both beginning and intermediate growers.

Eat Local Week 2025

Eat Local Week 2025 exists to spark dialogue, build community, and showcase the fabulous work being done in our local foodshed. It takes place between November 1, 2025 and November 9, 2025 throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties.

<blockquote> </blockquote><h3>Learn How to Grow Food in Your Own Backyard!</h3> SweetSong Groves is offering a 3-hour class in fruit tree horticulture. It is a complete introduction for both beginning and intermediate growers. Topics include: <ul><li> The seven basic horticultural concerns</li><li> Grafted trees — why you (usually) want one</li><li> Fertilization</li><li> How to plant</li><li> How to prune</li><li> How to select a tree</li><li> Diseases and insect pests</li><li> Fruit tree clubs</li></ul> The topics are illustrated in a hands-on fashion, including a tour of SweetSong’s groves. The emphasis is on non-toxic, ecologically sound methods throughout.
