Join us as we take on the cobbles and climbs of the Flanders 2021 UCI Road Cycling World Championships ‘Flandrian Circuit’. Departing from our HQ at the Zwift Cafe Sport in central Leuven, we head south and meander through the beautiful countryside of the Flemish Brabant. Peppered throughout the 57km loop are the challenging climbs of Smeysberg (twice!), Moskesstraat, Taymansstraat, Bekestraat and Veeweide. Leading the ride will be local expert Kardama Pohl of Pedal BXL, a Brussels based cycle courier and bike touring company.Kardama is an ex-professional cyclist originally from Finland. He mostly raced in Russia (Soviet Union) and after his competition career his love for cycling grew even bigger! After moving to Belgium Kardama completely fell in love with the Belgian style of cycling, the hills, the cobbles and of course to the various quality beers after quality rides! This is a challenging but achievable ride for intermediate to experienced riders who want to experience the roads the pro’s will be tackling in their quest to win the Rainbow Jersey. It is no drop, we all start and finish together!Ride Stats:<ul><li>Distance - 57km</li><li>Elevation - 570m</li><li>Average Speed - 20-23kph</li><li>Route GPX file can be downloaded <a href="https://we.tl/t-xmA97QwHNK" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>.</li><li>Depart &amp; Return - Zwift Cafe Sport, Martelarenplein 13, 3000 Leuven</li><li>8am depart - 12 ish return.</li></ul>Ride FAQ’s<ul><li>What’s the size of a group?</li></ul>Group sizes will be capped at 10, if we have more than 10 riders sign up we will split into two groups. Maximum of 20 riders in total.<ul><li>What if it rains?</li></ul>We will ride come rain or shine, just remember to bring a rain jacket, Flemish weather can be unpredictable!<ul><li>Can I hire a bike?</li></ul>Unfortunately Zwift are not able to loan or rent any bikes. If you are travelling or attending without a bike, we would recommend you try one of the many bike shops in and around Leuven.<ul><li>Is a reservation needed?</li></ul>Yes, please be sure to reserve your spot via our Eventbrite page. <ul><li>Do I have to pay?</li></ul>No, the ride is completely free! <ul><li>Where is the departure of the ride?</li></ul>The rides will depart and return from our venue at Zwift Cafe Sport, Martelarenplein 13, 3000 Leuven. Rides will leave at 8am and we should be back in Leuven around 12.<ul><li>What about a no-show?</li></ul>Please let us know if you will not be able to ride with us.<ul><li>Will there be a cafe stop?</li></ul>We will not have a cafe stop en route, however Zwift Cafe Sport will be open on our return. We would suggest bringing some snacks and plenty of water for the ride.<ul><li>Will we see the race out on the ride?</li></ul>We will be returning to Leuven well in advance of the race, this is to avoid any issues with road closures. But you will be able to watch the riders passing a few meters outside the venue back in Leuven.<ul><li>Do I have to have a road bike to do this ride?</li></ul>No, you can do the ride on any type of bike, however we would encourage you to consider the average speed and difficulty of the route. A road or gravel bike with slick tyres, and clipless pedals would be most suitable for this ride.
