Walktober Pasadena 2025

Walktober is a month-long series of walking events in Pasadena, sponsored by the City of Pasadena Department of Transportation. Day One and the Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition are the primary organizers with numerous partner groups and volunteers.

NOTE: This walk is currently full and waitlisted, but please add yourself to the waitlist if you would like to be contacted for future walk dates! We are gauging interest in reprising this walk in early 2026 to coincide with the publication of Ms. Hirahara's new book, "Crown City". The first Japanese immigrants came to Pasadena in the early 1900s, many to create and nurture the Japanese-style gardens and arts that were captivating the imaginations of the American people at the time. Over the years, they flourished, opening nurseries, laundries, florists, groceries, churches, and community centers, contributing their labor, rich culture, and business acumen to the fabric of Pasadena and the LA region. Join local author Naomi Hirahara on a walking exploration of some of these fascinating people and times in the heart of Old Pasadena.<ul><li>Total distance will be approximately 1.5 miles.</li><li>Meet at the northeast corner of the Central Park (Dayton &amp; Raymond).</li><li>We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, sunblock, and a hat.</li><li>We also recommend bringing water and a snack.</li><li>No restroom stops are scheduled during this walk.</li></ul>Please register in advance to help us anticipate the number of attendees and send any last-minute updates. <ul><li>We encourage walking, biking or taking transit to all Walktober events.
