16th Annual Problem-Solving Courts Symposium

The Maryland Judiciary Office of Problem-Solving Courts invites you to the 16th Annual Maryland Problem-Solving Court Symposium on Wednesday November 20, 2019. New this year, the event will be held at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel, 903 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson Maryland 21204.

This one-day training event is free and open to all problem-solving court staff to include Judges, Coordinators, Case Managers, State’s Attorney’s, Public Defenders, Public Safety and other Court and Treatment Staff.

Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. The symposium will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch and an afternoon snack will be provided.

The symposium will offer a variety of sessions, including the latest trends and best practices for adult drug courts, DUI courts, family recovery courts, juvenile drug courts, mental health courts, re-entry courts, truancy courts, and veterans treatment courts.

Some of the courses and topics that will be covered at the symposium include (subject to change):

• Addiction is a Family Problem

• Building Resiliency Through Positive Language

• Conversation, Skills, and Strategies for Resilience

• Criminogenic’ s is the Bridge That Works!

• Current Drug Trends in Maryland

• Engaging Parents and Caregivers to Reduce Absenteeism

• Human Trafficking 101

• Legalization of Marijuana and its Impact on Impaired Driving

• Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

• Opioids, Heroin and Prescription Opioids

• Problem-Solving Courts Past Graduate Panel

• The Role of, and Challenges Faced by Problem-Solving Court Judges (Judges and Magistrates Only)

• Trauma Awareness and Resilience Strategies for Work and Life

• Trauma Responsive Tools for Interacting with Court Involved Families
