Things to BringWondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
About Your BakeryWho doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Brandel Baked Goods is all about! These classes are based in Oregon City and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 2 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since December 2017 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to stay tuned to our page so you can get in on the cookie action!
General Cancellation Policy for In-Person Classes:
Showing Symptoms Before 3 Days Out:If you’re sick prior to the 3-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! To request a refund through Eventbrite, follow these steps.Showing Symptoms After 3 Days Out:For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 3-day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll give you a credit for the next class or a future order! You Don't Show Up Or Email Prior To Class:If we do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, we won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit regardless if you're sick. DIY / Add-On KitsOrder your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class. How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.
Allergen Disclaimer / Class Cancelation Policy / Weather Policy / Fees Disclaimer
Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: Milk, Eggs, FlourPlease note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: Peanuts, tree nutsPlease consider your allergies before registering.Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund including your fees.Classes with attendance below 6 will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 3 days before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund minus the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
Contact Me!
Questions? I have answers (or I’ll make up some really fun stories at least)! Reach out to me or check out some of my work on the following social media profiles (and hey – give me a like or follow – I’d love your support!). FAQWhat will I be doing in the class?Besides having the most fun ever? We will be going over some cookie facts, decorating techniques and you will be decorating your very own set of cookies that you will take home with you that day.Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it’ll be labeled with your name!Do I need to know how to bake?Nope! No baking history required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the icing already mixed and colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt… er… apron? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread! What will we learn in class? You’ll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, the value of different icing consistencies – we’ll touch on tips and tricks to make your cookies look even better than they taste (and they taste good)! You’ll also learn different decorating techniques depending on the class theme such as marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Or hey – go off script and make your own designs – it’s your class! What do I need to bring?Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing. There is a PowerPoint for reference, so if you wear glasses, we'd encourage you to bring them as well. Oh – and bring your phone – I love photos! What age is best for cookie classes? Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however, kiddos under 18 will need a parent taking the class as well. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit! We'll send you the class PowerPoint, and you can teach your kids in the comfort of your own home. What will I bring home?By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 - 48 hours in their own box. I’ll send you an Amazon link with a list of the tools we used in class so that you can recreate these cookies at home. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!Can I sign up as an individual or as a group? You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 20 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!Where are the classes located? This class will be held at Trail Distilling in Oregon City - that address is 21553 OR-213, Oregon City, OR 97045.I signed up for a class but can't make it?:( We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 3 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancelation after the 3 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to 6 months from the credit issue date.
