Build Your Own Computer (entering grades 4-9)

WHO: For tech-loving kids entering grades 4-9. Twenty participants max. 
WHEN: Mon 7/6 through Fri 7/10, from 1:00-4:00pm
ACTIVITIES: Each camper will work in a team of two, assembling a Kano Linux computer based on the Raspberry Pi platform -- the popular components foundation from Cambridge University. Each team will program Minecraft on their new computer; pursue projects in UNIX shell, MIT Scratch and Python; and install apps for work and play. Kids will be encouraged to discuss and work on their own projects as well, making interesting friends and starting the summer off right! 
Kids that register with the optional materials fee will be able to take their new computer home after the program. With the know-how and the computer you'll take home, you can continue learning all summer. 
This camp is limited to 20 campers. 
WHAT TO BRING: Bring a snack for mid-afternoon break. 
LOCATION: Build Your Own Computer will be held at Old Mill School in Mill Valley.  Easy drop-off &amp; pick-up on Throckmorton. Parents are responsible for timely pick-up at 4:00pm session end. 
PARENTS: Parent visitors welcome, especially techie parents who can help!
REGISTRATION &amp; PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Online registration and payment via EventBrite. Children $299 donation, optional materials fee an additional $99 (to take computer &amp; cables &amp; keyboard/mouse home). Parents sign permission/waiver at registration. 
REFUND POLICY: full refund with 30+ days advance notice; half refund 7+ days; refunds not guaranteed &lt;7 days.
