Join us at PJ’s Fine Bamboo Rods in downtown Pagosa Springs, Colorado, for a six-day bamboo fly rod building class you’ll never forget. From May 19 -24, 2026, you’ll immerse yourself in the timeless art of hand-building a custom bamboo fly rod under the guidance of master rodsmith PJ Dufour. Whether you’re an experienced angler or new to fly fishing, this workshop is the perfect way to connect with tradition, craftsmanship, and the beauty of the sport.

What You’ll Experience

Over six full workshop days, you will:

• Handcraft a two-piece, one-tip bamboo fly rod in your choice of 3- to 8-weight.
• Customize your rod with a selection of agate stripping guides, reel seat spacers, and grip styles/sizes.
• Learn and practice traditional methods using premium Tonkin bamboo and high-quality rod components.
• Be part of a small, hands-on class that balances precision, artistry, and fun.

The course takes place in our inviting workshop, located just steps from the San Juan River in the mountain town of Pagosa Springs. Spring is a stunning time here—the rivers are coming alive, the scenery is vibrant, and it’s the perfect season to build memories alongside your rod.

By the end of the class, you’ll walk away with more than just a fishing rod. You’ll receive:

• Your fully finished, handcrafted custom bamboo fly rod
