City Blossoms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that cultivates the well-being of our communities through creative kid-driven gardens.Since 2008, City Blossoms has designed, developed, collaborated on, and provided programming or trainings for over 100 projects throughout Washington, DC and nationwide. Our work serves Black, Latino, and children of immiagrant backgrounds, ages 2-19.Applying our unique brand of gardens, science, art, healthy living, and community building, we "blossom" in neighborhoods where kids, their families, and neighbors may not otherwise have access to green spaces. Join City Blossoms for a Back to School Workday at the Cardozo EC Garden!

About This Space: Cardozo is home to half our year round, garden-based Youth Entrepreneurship Cooperative program. At the core of the program is a youth-led business called, Mighty Greens. Through this business, Youth Staff (students participants from Cardozo) learn to combine their interests of environmental and food justice work with micro-enterprise and job readiness skills development. We will convene in the garden at to do a quick introduction and hand washing. Tasks will include weeding, resetting stone borders, removing old crops to make room for fall crops, and organizing their tool sheds. Please dress in closed toe shoes as well as outdoor clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and a face mask. Everyone is encouraged to bring water bottles and bug spray. Additional Health &amp; Safety Guidelines:City Blossoms takes the safety and health of our staff, volunteers, and neighbors very seriously. As a team, we have been practicing social distancing and working remotely except when necessary for maintaining our gardens. <ul><li>Masks are required by all participants</li><li>Hand washing is available onsite and is required when participants enter and leave the space</li><li>3 feet of distance is maintained between event participants</li><li>Hand sanitizer and wipes are readily available</li><li>Participants should bring their own water bottle</li></ul>Please visit our <a href="https://cityblossoms.org/covid19-safety" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">COVID-19 Safety Updates &amp; Guidelines page </a>to learn more.Parking Instructions: The school parking lot has been opened to the public, with limited weekday spots. There is also a bike rack within the parking lot. Metro Instructions: This garden is a 10 minute walk from the U St/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo Metro (Yellow/Green line). It is also accessible by way of the 52, 54 buses (14th &amp; Clifton St.) or 64 bus (11th &amp; Clifton St.)Please email info@cityblossoms.org if you have any questions.
