Engage! a three-part series, supports your journey towards cultural competence in connecting with your students and their families. Each session focuses on specific strategies which develop personal and professional competence in working with families whose cultural/language differ from our own. Session 1- Reflection Tuesday, Sept 21, 2021Session 2 - Connection Tuesday, Oct 19, 2021Session 3 - Action Tuesday, Nov 16, 2021These practice-based sessions will provide strategies a special educator may use to connect one&#x27;s own cultural competence through reflective practice, examine culturally responsive family approaches, relevant instruction, behavioral interventions and a strengths-based lens for assessment to promote effective family engagement practices. Through &quot;share and compare&quot; strategy, audience participants will discuss and create additional strategies and recommendations and commit to moving at least one strategy into actions to improve family engagement!While you are invited to participate in all three sessions, you may select one or more sessions if this better meets your needs.Prices are: CEC Members - $20 US for each session Non-CEC Members - $30 US or a team of three from the same organization (member or non-member) - $20 US per person/per event.

<h3>Session 1 – Reflection! - Connecting with Cultural Competence</h3>This session opens the Engage! Series with a look at using reflective practice to connect with our own cultural competence. We then examine the rules of engagement that guide culturally responsive family approaches.Learning objectives:a.	Share the overview of the full series.
b.	Discuss using reflective practice to connect with one’s own cultural competence.
c.	Examine rules of engagement and culturally responsive family approaches.

Culturally Relevant Strength-based Opportunities to Engage Families</h3>This second session of the Engage! looks at culturally relevant classroom practices that support conning with home and community. We will also discuss strength-based approaches that foster student and family relationships.Learning objectives:a.	Explore culturally relevant classroom practices for connecting with home and community.

The Impact of Culturally Responsive Behaviors on Family Engagement</h3>The third and final session of Engage! will a demonstrate just how impactful culturally responsive behavior interventions can be. We will also reflect on building culturally competence to improve family engagement. Finally we will commit to one specific change in practice which will improve our culturally competence in working with families.Learning objectives:a.	Demonstrate how impactful culturally responsive behavior interventions can be.
b.	Reflect on building cultural competence to improve family engagement.
c.	Commit to one specific change of practice which will lead to improved culturally competence with families.
