Ian Scarfe: An Evening of Classical Music

The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Sunday Evening RomanticsPianist Ian Scarfe is joined by clarinettist James Pytko and cellist Evan Kahn for a program of classical chamber music at The Sound Room.The trio will perform classical works from the Romantic Era, including pieces by Brahms and Schumann, as well as an early example of Russian pathos with Mikhael Glinka&#x27;s &quot;Trio Pathetique&quot;. To cap things off, the ensemble will perform sultry tangos by Astor Piazzolla. Classical Evenings at the Sound Room are a series of classical music performances designed to be &quot;out of the box&quot;, and appealing to music lovers of all kinds. Come hear Scarfe and the other musicians share stories of the history of this great music, act as entertaining &quot;listening guides&quot;, and celebrate taking the stuffiness out of classical music with a glass of your favorite beer or wine. We request attendees provide proof of Covid vaccination, and wear a mask when not eating or drinkingSeating is limited to allow distancing.Hand sanitizer stations are available at the venue.If you are unwell or running a temperature, please do not attend the show.
