Up and coming Duluth rocker Lyla Abukhodair talks about her new musical direction  and performs songs from her debut solo EP.

Up and coming Duluth rocker <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lyla.abukhodair" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Lyla Abukhodair</a> will discuss her songwriting style, tell some stories from her life in music and play songs from her debut solo EP on “Live From The Heart” songwriters/storytellers live stream series Tuesday, Sept. 14 on the Sacred Heart YouTube channel. <a href="https://www.uwsuper.edu/kuws/directory/index.cfm#_1_2748609" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">KUWS</a> music director Walt Dizzo will host.A limited number of free studio audience tickets are available here or watch on the Sacred Heart <a href="https://www.youtube.com/sacredheartmusiccenterduluth" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">YouTube channel.</a>Abukhodair introduced herself to the Duluth music scene as a member of the six-piece folk band NorShore Summit. Her debut solo EP "Your Mom Hates Me Now" was released in 2021 and showed off a scorching new punk rock direction. "I decided I have so much music, I really need to do a solo thing," she told the  2021 Homegrown Music Festival Field Guide. "I've always wanted to do it. I love songwriting. It's kind of what keeps me sane."(Photo by Sam Miller)
