OUR SPEAKER: For more than two decades, our friend Dava Guthmiller has operated at the forefront of brand and design. As co-founder of In/Visible Projects and founder of Noise 13, she has invested enormous thought and practice into her understanding of applied creativity. How do we become more creative when we are focused on the end viewer/user over ourselves? How do we grow more creative in the context of open discovery, such as an art class or even a walk in the woods at camp? From supporting major brands like Uber, Twitter, Facebook, and Planet to small emerging brands, to mentoring designers, and moderating creative discussions, Dava's extensive experience gives her insight into how we find and cultivate creativity. Dava will offer us a question or two to enhance our own creativity in tonight's conversation.

OUR CHEF: Before enrolling in culinary school in 2002, our new friend Beverly Torrez-Petty had many jobs, but cooking was not one of them. A few months into her classes, she was offered a position as pastry chef at Max’s Bistro in Fresno and decided to give it a shot. This lead to work in fine dining, and in 2005 the prestigious, Relais-Chateau, Elderberry House in Oakhurst came calling. In 2008 Beverly took a position as pastry chef at Restaurant Gary Danko, where she learned what it takes to make it in a Michelin Star restaurant in San Francisco. More recently Beverly was called by long time friend and chef, Dan Murray in Murphys, CA, as lead pastry chef. In short order, Beverly was running this high end kitchen as executive chef, allowing her to design menus for world class culinary stars like Gordon Ramsay. In 2015, Chef Beverly struck out on her own, with “flip’d out fusion,” a small Asian fusion restaurant featuring inventive takes on Filipino, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean cuisine. This style brought her enormous joy, because it drew on her roots. Growing up an Air Force brat to a Hispanic father and a Filipina mother, her cooking style is “borrow and sample,” with a large helping of childhood flavors served at friend’s homes while growing up in the Philippines.“When you combine big flavors with fond memories, you have the perfect recipe.” We’re thrilled to welcome her and her menus to our Good People community here at Camp Earnest.

OUR MENU: TO START:Vegetable Spring Rolls with Garlic Soy dipping sauceChicken and Beef Satay with peanut sauceMAINS:Green Papaya Salad with Cover tomatoes and Chinese long beansGrass Fed Beef or Tofu Bibimbap with homemade Cucumber KimchiTO FINISH:Buko Pandan with Ube Cookies and fresh berries

Drinks at 6:00, dinner at 7:00. Though a cocktail and some wine will be provided, guests are welcome to bring a bottle of wine to share. Menu update will come soon to help you choose your bottles. We always make sure vegetarian friends will have plenty to eat.
